Sam Tomkins says Catalans boss Steve McNamara used to be proper to accuse Huddersfield of disrespect after their alleged feedback to IMG about French golf equipment now not being in Super League.

McNamara reacted furiously ultimate week, after studying of the alleged feedback, announcing: “There is talk of Huddersfield saying French teams give nothing to the game and should not be in Super League which is an absolute disgrace. People talk about the game being together but it’s b******t.”

Huddersfield managing director Richard Thewlis wondered how McNamara would know what used to be mentioned and insisted discussions have been higher being saved non-public.

But talking in this week’s Love Rugby League Podcast, Tomkins says McNamara used to be completely inside of his rights to protect his membership.

“The first I heard of it was when I read the comments from Steve,” mentioned Tomkins.

“Steve doesn’t say issues out of anger or emotion. We can take a difficult loss or an excellent win and Steve isn’t doing cartwheels or crying at both of the ones.

“Steve will take into consideration what he’s going to mention. He doesn’t get too prime or too low and that’s the consistency you need out of your trainer.

“So the comments regarding Huddersfield won’t have just been blurted out, they will have been thought through. I would back everything that he is saying. I think it is a terrible attitude to have. We clearly add to what Super League has got so I would back Steve’s comments. He would have thought that through and known exactly what has gone on before coming out with that.”

Sam Tomkins: We deliver so much to Super League

And Tomkins is raring to remind Huddersfield and another critics of French rugby league, simply what the Dragons deliver to Super League.

“We have won a Challenge Cup and got to a Grand Final,” he mentioned. “These are issues that golf equipment who’ve been in Super League for many years haven’t finished.

“We make it a global league. There’s an M62 hall that everybody is going on about and London got here in at one level; and Crusaders and it’s now not rather labored. We are a membership that works.

“We have an proprietor who places his hand in his pocket greater than another proprietor. Through Covid there’s no different proprietor who would have finished what Bernard (Guasch) did. He used to be getting hit from his paintings facet, the industry that makes the cash for the membership to continue to exist; after which dipping his hand in his personal pocket spending greater than he had ever spent when he used to be incomes not up to he had ever earned.

“We bring a group of passionate fans. Everyone knows when you come to Catalans it is a different experience to any other club. You get some great atmospheres in Super League but over here it is different, it is a carnival atmosphere.”
